offers up what might just be the most deliciously ironic piece of news this year:

I can’t believe I’m writing these words: the is proceeding with an investigation against for hate speech. The maximum disruptor is now about to be disrupted himself.

Do read the whole thing, good reader. It’s a bizarre little odyssey, but it’s hilarious at the same time. of the is an odious piece of legislation, and until this point it has been Warman’s personal ATM machine; all but two Section 13 cases filed in this decade were filed by him, and he has been the principal financial beneficiary of the until-only-just-recently 100% conviction rate of the .

And while one desires that Section 13 be done away with, that none might be prosecuted under its stipulations ever again, it is nevertheless deliciously ironic to see that the principal “champion” of that particular piece of the law has now become its latest victim.

Of course, there’s a problem too, as Levant notes. The finding against Warman was filed after the recent ruling — by the CHRT itself — that its prosecution of Section 13 cases violated the Charter rights of Canadians. Obviously, the is still pressing forward with investigation of Section 13 complaints.

At the same time, though, the above also gives the CHRT — and Warman — an “out.” The CHRT could just refuse to convict him, on the same grounds as were established — or re-asserted, really — only a few weeks ago.
