My new fitness goals
I’ve been thinking I need to drop a few pounds, but it’s rather hard to motivate myself to get into a decent exercise regimen without a clear direction and goal in mind. (Neverwinter Nights 2 also presents itself as an obstacle here, but that is a separate matter.)
Still, I think I may have found a suitable set of goals. Nothing crazy, mind you: I would be happy to be just fit enough to save my life in an emergency.
Which apparently requires a fairly decent level of strength and fitness:
A man should be able to:
Swim at least half a mile or more
Run at top speed two hundred yards or more
Jump over obstacles higher than his waist
Pull his body upward by the strength of his arms, until his chin touches his hands, at least fifteen to twenty times
Dip between parallel bars or between two chairs at least twenty-five times or more
If he can accomplish these things he need have no fear concerning the safety of his life should he be forced into an emergency
I guess the question now is: what DEADLINE (if any) should I set for myself?
