…let’s assume for the moment that it’s an entirely accurate model of recent trends in average global temperature. It’s not, but let’s assume it is.

It’s still no cause for alarm, when viewed in the context of, basically, human history. Which is to say that, under our above assumption, it may well be the case that the world is warmer now than it has been in several centuries…but it is simply not the case that the world is warmer now than it ever has been in even as relatively short a span of time as recorded human history.

But let’s let Doc explain:

Was the Earth way warmer once, on average, than it is now? Norse colonies once thrived and farmed in Greenland, which is now a frozen chunk of barely-inhabited permafrost and/or ice. So you tell me.
