Two years and two days ago
Happy Anniversary + 2, Grace!
Lest the reader think me a complete cad, it should be noted that we opted to mark our anniversary this year on the 22nd, as we were both possessed of previously planned events on the 20th.
Last year, we kind of stumbled onto an anniversary tradition of sorts. With Ella’s delivery imminent, we opted to keep things relatively low key, and so went and had dinner at Back Home Fish & Chips, which was only a few blocks from where we were living at the time. It’s a truly excellent — if nondescript — fish & chips restaurant, quite possibly the best in Edmonton.
Grace is the standard by which we judge that; having worked on the West Coast for a number of her childhood summers, and then for a sea captain grandfather who grew up in Britain, she has very exacting tastes where fish & chips are concerned. And Back Home does very well; they evidently fly their supply of fish in daily — or almost daily — from the East Coast, so it might just be the freshest fish one can find in a restaurant in Edmonton.
