Me, a liberal?
Over on some Yahoo!-based Galactica 1980 discussion board, someone has mistakenly assumed that this is a “liberal” blog based on no other evidence apart from my brief thoughts of Dirk Benedict’s whining about how Starbuck was played by a girl in the recent re-imagined BSG series.
Are they reading the same blog I’m writing?
This is another thing I hate — as in: utterly despise — about political discourse in the United States: the “for us or against us” mentality that recognizes no middle ground between polarized and extreme viewpoints. Apparently it means I’m a liberal — to these Galactica groupies — simply because I disagreed with one article written at Big Hollywood. Never mind the fact that I typically find I agree with about 75% of the content posted at said same site!
Yeesh.
Remember, people: the enemy of your enemy is not automatically your friend; he is merely and ONLY your enemy’s enemy. He may well be more your enemy than he is your enemy’s enemy, save in a specific, isolated instance or circumstance.
Me, liberal? Yeah, right…and I’m Lutheran too.
