Pope gives Obama a copy of ‘Dignitas Personae’
The thing to really like about Pope Benedict XVI is that he cannot ever be predicted. He has just seen published Caritas in Veritate, his latest encyclical that, to hear some media pundits tell it, puts him (if not the Church) substantially “to the left” of Barack Obama on economic issues*. Not even a week later, he’s re-affirming the Church’s overwhelmingly pro-life position to the most pro-abortion U.S. President in history (at least that I’m aware of) by handing over copies of his former office’s masterful work on the matter of the dignity of the human person.
(* and keep in mind: this is a media characterization of the document, which means it is likely a gross mischaracterization!)
Now would be an appropriate time to pray that Obama not only reads Dignitas Personae, but that he finds his heart moved thereby.
