Pic of the Day #1016
One of a series of pictures I took at my then-girlfriend’s (now wife’s) younger sister’s soccer tournament in early summer, 2005. This is about when I began to experiment with what the PowerShot A70 could really do, e.g. with its manual settings.
This is still one of my favourite shots ever, and capturing it was pure luck. Or almost pure luck; I had to pre-focus the camera on a piece of grass about as far away as I thought the subject would be when she would be in front of the lens.
This edited version of the photo features a bit of Lightroom-induced pseudo-HDR; I really worked on bringing out details in the sky, and I think the result is pretty awesome.
