Queen’s University cans ‘facilitators,’ blames students

1Kenneth Hynek13th Feb 2009World News, Canadian News, Society, Education, Society, Freespeechery

Remember that brouhaha over Queen’s University and its decision to implement a programme whereby select students acted in the role of busybody ‘dialogue facilitators,’ who would jump/butt in to any conversation in which politically incorrect terminology was overheard being used?

Apparently, it has been axed for being “incompatible with the atmosphere required for free speech.”

Which is good.

Evidently, they’re blaming the implementation of the programme on a lack of sufficient oversight of student groups by the University. Or, basically: the adults have been inattentive, and the kids have run amok with the cookies.
