Anti-Semitism is alive and well, sadly
As Israel continues in its attempt to stamp out Hamas in Gaza, and as the protests against Israel — strangely, nobody ever seems to protest when the Palestinians lob thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians — continue to increase both in number and tenor, the sheer volume of anti-Semitic garbage (there is no better word for it) issuing forth from the protesters is nothing short of staggering.
Indeed, it’s getting hard to keep track of it all.
- Hezbollah — declared a terrorist organization in Canada, which renders illegal the possession of any of its “promotional material,” incidentally — flags on display at a protest in Toronto.
- Hezbollah and Hamas flags, and a student chanting “Viva Intifada!” at another Toronto rally.
- Comparisons of the Jews of Israel to the Nazis
- Anti-Israel protesters proclaiming “Hitler didn’t do a good job.”
- Predominantly Muslim protesters in downtown Montreal proclaiming “The Jews are our dogs!”
Indeed, the only mote of good news — and it’s a small one, at that — is that Canada was the sole dissenting vote against a UN Human Rights Council vote condemning Israel over its actions in Gaza. European nations evidently abstained, as did Japan and South Korea — which means that the 33 nations which voted to condemn Israel were, basically, a collection of Arab, African, and Asian nations, none of which are particularly nice places to live in the first place.
There’s a bitter irony in that: the worst of the worst human rights abusers lecturing Israel on how her actions in Gaza are a human rights violation. But then, that irony is itself not so different from the flag-waving Hezbollah supporter comparing the Jews to Nazis. (Hezbollah, remember, is committed to the extermination of Israel and the Jews living therein — why does that sound familiar?)
And Mark Steyn gets complained about to the CHRC for writing a book about demographic trends?
