His last 18 years
This is a rather moving website.
It starts innocently enough, presenting a photo for each and every day, from March 1979 until October 1997. The photos themselves are scans of Polaroid pictures. Sometimes, they feature the photographer. Sometimes they do not. They do, however, chronicle a person’s life in intimate, and sometimes funny detail.
The photos were taken by Jamie Livingston, who seems to hvae been a filmmaker and musician. Perhaps, one day, he had intended to collate the photos into some kind of book; instead, he passed away from melanoma in October of 1997, on his 41st birthday.
The photo collection, then, is the portrait of a man living out his last 18 years on Earth, taking one picture to mark each day.
