Pic of the Day #406
Pure revelry.
There are a few circumstances under which a lot of blur in a photograph can look good, and this is one of them.
Just a bunch of Scouts having a grand old time partying it up at the closing ceremonies of the Jamboree. But look at all the elements in the shot: light flaring from one side, flags twisting and waving, kids jumping and swaying. I think the trees in the background are actually more or less stationary, albeit blurred due to depth-of-field, but the point is that I can’t see any obvious evidence that the camera was all that jittery. This was a snapshot on my part, but the stabilizer did its job well.
But everyone — everyone — was moving and celebrating, and it shows.
This was a high ISO shot, but the new sharpening goes well with the noise reduction scheme I’ve concocted, so overall the artifacting from the “clean-up” process is lessened. And, as usual, this shot received the calibration/Punch preset.
